Best Solar Lead Generation Companies in the UK (2026 Comparison)
If you’re a solar installer in the UK looking for leads, you’ve probably been told by a dozen companies that they’re “the best.” Every agency claims exclusive leads, high conversion rates, and amazing results.
The reality is more nuanced. Different lead generation models suit different businesses, and what works for an installer doing 20 jobs a month in Lancashire won’t necessarily work for a two-man team covering all of North Wales.
This guide compares the main solar lead generation companies operating in the UK in 2026, their actual pricing models, how exclusive their leads really are, and what you should measure before signing anything.
Disclosure: PoweredLeads is my company. I’ve included us in this comparison because it would be odd not to, but I’ve tried to be fair about where each provider does well. I also founded PoweredLeads after a year working inside a UK solar installation company, so I’ve been on the receiving end of most of these lead sources.
How the UK Solar Lead Generation Market Works in 2026
The UK solar lead generation market in 2026 operates across four distinct models: shared lead platforms, pay-per-lead providers, done-for-you agency campaigns, and commission-only partnerships. Each model has different economics, and the cheapest leads per unit are rarely the cheapest per installation. The market has grown significantly since 2023 as residential solar adoption continues to accelerate across the UK.
Understanding which model fits your business starts with one question: do you want to buy leads, or build a pipeline?
Buying leads means paying per lead or per appointment from a provider who generates them on your behalf. Building a pipeline means running campaigns under your brand, so homeowners come to you, not a generic form.
Both work. They just have different unit economics, and the difference matters more than most installers realise.
The 9 Best Solar Lead Generation Companies in the UK
1. PoweredLeads · Exclusive Solar Leads, Pay Per Accepted Lead
Model: Pay-per-lead, exclusive solar leads sold per lead Exclusivity: One installer per area Pricing: From £45 per accepted lead Channels: Paid social, delivered into your CRM Contracts: None, leads are bought in blocks, nothing recurring Best for: Installers who want exclusive leads without a retainer or an ad account
PoweredLeads sells exclusive solar leads on a pay-per-lead basis, from £45 per accepted lead. Every lead is generated in the installer’s agreed postcodes, goes to one installer only, and is never resold. The agreed standard is a homeowner who asked for a solar quote, in the covered postcodes, who owns the property, with real and reachable contact details. Leads that miss it are credited rather than argued about. There is no retainer, no ad budget and no contract.
The key differentiator is exclusivity with nothing attached to it: a published price per lead, one installer per area, and a credit policy with no time-limited claim window. Most UK exclusive-lead providers publish no price at all.
Limitations: These are leads, not booked appointments, someone still has to ring the homeowner, and quickly. Areas sell out, because only one installer is supplied per area. And the company is young: founded in 2024, currently working with roughly six installers.
Founded by Forhad Sarker, who spent over a year working inside a UK solar installation company before starting PoweredLeads. Based in Wrexham, Wales.
2. Lead Pronto · Multi-Channel Pay-Per-Lead
Model: Pay-per-lead, revenue share, or bespoke arrangements Exclusivity: 100% exclusive Pricing: Custom (not publicly listed) Channels: Google Ads, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Native Ads, SEO Contracts: Varies by arrangement Best for: Installers who want multi-channel lead generation with flexible pricing models
Lead Pronto is one of the larger UK solar lead providers, generating leads across multiple digital channels. They offer several pricing models including a revenue share option where you pay nothing if no sales are made.
They cover Solar PV, Solar Grant leads, ECO 4 leads, and commercial solar. Their multi-channel approach means leads come from various sources: Google search, social media, and native advertising, which can diversify your lead pipeline.
Strengths: Multiple pricing models including zero-risk revenue share. Multi-channel approach. Can scale quickly (they claim leads within 7 days).
Limitations: Pricing is not transparent, you need to contact them for quotes. The revenue share model means giving up a percentage of closed deal value, which on a £12,000 installation can be more expensive than paying per lead upfront.
3. Watts Marketing · Established Exclusive Lead Provider
Model: Pay-per-lead (custom pricing) Exclusivity: 100% exclusive, never re-sold or multi-quoted Pricing: Custom (not publicly listed) Channels: Inbound telephone-qualified leads Contracts: Not publicly stated Best for: Installers who want telephone-verified leads from an established provider
Watts Marketing has been operating since 2015 and positions itself as the UK’s largest solar PV lead generation company. Their key differentiator is compliance, they employ an in-house compliance team that listens to and analyses a minimum of 30% of all leads, checking 39 points within their script and objection handling process. They claim 90% accuracy across all campaigns.
They also offer “hot-key transfer” leads, the homeowner is transferred to you directly by phone in real time, which strengthens the connection and reduces no-shows.
Strengths: Established track record since 2015. Strict compliance and quality control. Real-time phone transfers. Based in Norwich.
Limitations: Pricing not publicly available. Their compliance focus means you’re paying for infrastructure, which may be reflected in higher per-lead costs. Also covers multiple industries (double glazing, heat pumps, insulation), so solar isn’t their sole focus.
4. Synergy Advertising · Commission-Only Model
Model: Commission on closed sales (zero upfront cost) Exclusivity: 100% exclusive, phone-qualified before delivery Pricing: Commission percentage of closed deals (they cover ad spend) Channels: Paid advertising (specific channels not disclosed) Contracts: Partnership model Best for: Installers who want zero upfront risk and are comfortable sharing revenue on closed deals
Synergy Advertising runs a pure commission-only model, they cover all advertising costs and only get paid when you close a sale. This sounds like the lowest risk option, and for cash-flow purposes it is. They’re also selective, rejecting 2 out of 3 applicants, which keeps their network quality high.
Reported performance metrics:
| Metric | Figure |
|---|---|
| Leads delivered (2024) | 6,800+ |
| Closed sales revenue driven | £2.5 million+ |
| Client retention rate | 86% |
| Lead conversion rate | 20-25% |
| Vetted installers in network | 70+ |
Requirements to join: MCS/HIES/RECC accreditation, 4.5+ Google rating with 30+ reviews, 2+ years trading.
Strengths: Zero upfront cost. High selectivity means better lead quality. They take financial risk alongside you.
Limitations: The commission model can be more expensive per installation than pay-per-lead. On a £12,000 deal, even a 10% commission is £1,200, significantly more than paying £22-40 per lead. Most installers who grow past a certain scale find it cheaper to switch to upfront lead costs. Entry requirements are strict, which excludes newer installers.

5. Leads2Trade · Semi-Exclusive Double-Qualified Leads
Model: Pay-per-lead with “no pitch, no fee” option Exclusivity: Semi-exclusive (shared with maximum one other installer) Pricing: Per-lead pricing (not publicly listed) Channels: In-house UK call centre, web enquiries Founded: 2006 Best for: Installers who want volume at lower cost and are comfortable with semi-exclusive leads
Leads2Trade has been operating since 2006, making them one of the longest-established lead providers in the UK. They supply over 90,000 double-qualified leads annually across 600+ companies. Their “no pitch, no fee” model means you only pay for leads that result in a booked appointment where the homeowner actually shows up.
Their leads are “double-qualified”, first through their website forms, then verified by their in-house call centre in Catterick, North Yorkshire.
Important distinction: Leads2Trade leads are not fully exclusive. They share leads with up to one other installer. While this is better than Checkatrade’s 3-5 installers, you’re still competing with at least one other company.
Strengths: Established since 2006. High volume capacity. Double-qualification process. “No pitch, no fee” reduces risk.
Limitations: Leads are semi-exclusive (shared with up to 2 installers). Customer reviews on Trustpilot are mixed, some installers report leads being unresponsive or poorly targeted. The 7-day refund policy is restrictive. The platform interface has been described as dated.
6. HelloClicks · Pay-Per-Lead with CRM Integration
Model: Pay-per-lead Exclusivity: Pre-qualified (exclusivity not explicitly confirmed) Pricing: Per-lead (not publicly listed); full credit if dissatisfied Channels: Google PPC, paid social, custom landing pages Contracts: Rolling monthly, no long-term commitment Best for: Installers who want tech-integrated lead delivery with flexible terms
HelloClicks has been operating for approximately 14 years, serving over 300 clients. They provide pre-qualified solar leads with CRM and API integrations, and they include custom landing pages as standard, which is relatively unusual for a pay-per-lead provider.
Strengths: Long operating history. CRM/API integration for lead delivery. Custom landing pages included. Flexible rolling contracts. Full refund policy on poor leads.
Limitations: Specific per-lead pricing not publicly available. Exclusivity policy is not clearly stated on their website, so clarify this before signing.
7. GMS Leads · Contribution-Based Solar Leads
Model: Contribution-based pricing (variable per lead) Exclusivity: Exclusive Pricing: Based on “Deemed Score”, varies by property type, wall type, bedrooms Channels: Web enquiries and outbound telephone qualification Founded: 2012 Best for: Installers comfortable with variable pricing tied to lead quality scoring
GMS Leads has been operating since 2012 and offers two types of solar PV leads: web enquiries (hot leads via their online portal) and qualified leads (phone-verified with QC checks). Their pricing uses a “Deemed Score” system that varies the cost based on the property characteristics, so a detached 4-bedroom house with suitable roof orientation costs more than a mid-terrace with a smaller roof.
They offer a 9-day replacement policy managed through their CRM.
Strengths: Transparent quality scoring system. Been in the market since 2012. Covers England, Scotland, and Wales.
Limitations: The contribution-based pricing model can be complex and opaque for new clients. Lead costs are unpredictable because they vary per lead. Limited public reviews or performance data available.
8. Clean Energy Group · Commercial Solar Leads
Model: Custom B2B pricing Exclusivity: 100% exclusive meetings with decision-makers Pricing: Not publicly disclosed Channels: AI-intent mapping, email outreach, property database (79 million properties) Best for: Installers focused on commercial solar projects (£50K-£500K+ deals)
Clean Energy Group (CEG) operates a completely different model to the other providers on this list, they focus exclusively on commercial solar, targeting factories, schools, offices, and large properties. They use AI to identify businesses with high energy consumption and suitable roof space, then set up pre-booked meetings with verified decision-makers.
Reported stats: 1,200 MW of commercial projects in pipeline, 5,000+ solar businesses served globally.
Strengths: Specialist commercial focus. Decision-maker verification. AI-powered targeting. High deal values (£50K-£500K+).
Limitations: Not for residential installers. Pricing is opaque and likely high given the deal values involved. Global focus means UK may not be their primary market.
9. Imperio Leads · Multi-Channel Performance Campaigns
Model: Performance-marketing campaigns with lead delivery; engagement terms on application Exclusivity: Exclusive, their published claim is that solar leads are delivered to one installer Channels: Paid social and search (Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat) Best for: Installers comparing international multi-channel providers alongside UK specialists
Imperio Leads has become one of the more visible lead generation companies appearing in UK solar searches since early 2026, largely through content: they publish solar lead guides and regularly appear in their own industry listicles. They describe themselves as running campaigns through an in-house team of media buyers specialising in paid social, and they are part of the Ace of Performance group, working with clients across the US and EU as well as the UK.
On exclusivity they are explicit, and it is their strongest claim: their own published material states that solar leads are delivered exclusively to one installer. We have not independently verified how that is enforced, so it is worth asking them directly, as it is worth asking anyone on this list, including us.
Strengths: Multi-channel reach across paid social and search rather than a single platform. Certified partner status with Meta and Google. Highly visible and easy to research before you commit.
Limitations: No price is published, so you cannot compare cost per lead without booking a call. Their scale claims are self-reported and we have not been able to verify them independently, treat them as you would any vendor’s own numbers, including ours. Their UK solar work also sits inside a much broader multi-country, multi-sector operation rather than being the whole business.
(Note on our own bias: Imperio publishes comparison content that ranks itself first, and so does this article. That is worth saying plainly. The difference we would claim is disclosure and checkable facts, but you should discount both of us accordingly and ask the questions in the section below.)

Residential vs Commercial Solar Leads
Most of the companies above sell residential solar leads: homeowners asking for a quote on their own roof. Residential leads are cheaper, faster to close and arrive in steady volume, which is why they pay the wages for most UK installers. Commercial solar leads (businesses, farms, landlords) cost more, involve more decision makers and close over months rather than weeks.
If your pipeline problem is this quarter’s diary, residential solar leads solve it; Clean Energy Group aside, that is what this market sells. If you also install commercial, treat it as a second, slower pipeline and qualify commercial enquiries properly before spending survey time on them.
How to Compare Solar Lead Costs (The Right Way)
Most installers compare lead providers on cost per lead. This is the wrong metric.
The right metric is cost per installation. A £15 shared lead that converts at 5% costs £300 per installation in lead spend alone. A £22 exclusive lead that converts at 15% costs £147 per installation. The “expensive” lead is actually 51% cheaper.
Here’s how the maths works across different lead types:
| Lead Type | Cost Per Lead | Survey Rate | Close Rate | Cost Per Install |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shared platform (Checkatrade) | £20 | 20% | 25% | £400 |
| Exclusive, budget vendors | £8-15 | Varies widely | Varies widely | Depends on quality |
| Exclusive, premium providers | £50-150 | 50-75% | 12-20% | £330-2,500 |
| Phone-verified exclusive | £40-80 | 60% | 20% | £333-667 |
| Commission-only (10% of deal) | £0 upfront | Varies | Varies | £800-1,200 per install |
| Pre-booked appointments | £100-300 | 90%+ | 20-25% | £400-1,500 |
Note: the prices here are published figures from the providers and industry guides named in this article. The survey and close rates are ranges reported by providers, not our own results, and yours will vary with location and sales process.
The three numbers that actually matter:
- Cost per installation, not cost per lead
- Survey rate, what percentage of leads actually book a survey
- Time to contact, how quickly can you reach the homeowner (shared leads decay fast)
Which Type of Solar Lead Generation Is Right for You?
Choose shared platforms (Checkatrade, Leads2Trade) if:
- You’re just starting out and need immediate lead flow
- Your budget is very limited (under £500/month)
- You have a strong speed-to-contact process (call within 60 seconds)
- You’re comfortable competing with other installers on every lead
Choose pay-per-lead exclusive providers (Watts, Lead Pronto, HelloClicks) if:
- You want exclusive leads without managing campaigns
- You have budget for £40-80+ per lead
- You want to avoid the complexity of ad management
- You’re happy with the provider controlling lead quality
Choose exclusive pay-per-lead (PoweredLeads) if:
- You want exclusive leads without running ads yourself
- You want to start small and scale by volume, not by budget
- You want a fixed, published cost per lead you can plan around (from £45)
- You want the supplier to carry the risk on a bad lead, not you
Choose commission-only (Synergy Advertising) if:
- Cash flow is your primary constraint
- You have strong MCS accreditation and Google reviews (4.5+)
- You’re comfortable sharing revenue on closed deals
- You’d rather pay more per install than risk upfront costs
Choose commercial solar specialists (Clean Energy Group) if:
- You’re targeting B2B installations (factories, schools, offices)
- Deal values are £50K+ and justify higher lead acquisition costs
- You need meetings booked with verified decision-makers
What to Ask Before Signing with Any Lead Provider
Before committing to any solar lead generation company, ask these questions:
-
“How many installers receive each lead?” If they hesitate or say “it depends,” the leads are probably shared.
-
“What’s the average survey rate for your solar leads?” If they can’t answer with a specific percentage, they probably don’t track it. Phantom Digital reports exclusive leads converting at 15-25% against 5-10% for shared, and providers commonly quote survey rates of 50-75% for exclusive supply.
-
“What happens if a lead is a wrong number or outside my area?” Every provider has a credit or refund policy, and they vary enormously. Ask how long you have to flag a bad lead: some impose a seven-day window, after which it is yours.
-
“What happens if a lead is bad quality?” Every provider has a returns or credit policy. Read it carefully. Some have 7-day windows. Others offer full credits.
-
“How do you qualify leads before they reach me?” Multi-step forms, phone verification and landing-page pre-qualification are all different levels, and whether the contact details are verified before delivery matters more than any of them. A single-tap form fill is the lowest qualification level there is.
-
“What’s your cost per installation, not just cost per lead?” This question separates providers who track real outcomes from those who just count form submissions.
The Bottom Line
There is no single “best” solar lead generation company, it depends on your budget, your growth stage, and what kind of relationship you want with your leads.
If you want the cheapest leads per unit, shared platforms will always win on cost per lead. But you’ll pay for it in wasted time, frustrated homeowners, and low conversion rates.
If you want leads that actually convert into installations, exclusive lead generation, whether through an agency, a pay-per-lead provider, or your own campaigns, will deliver a lower cost per installation in almost every scenario.
The installers who grow fastest in 2026 aren’t the ones with the cheapest leads. They’re the ones who know their cost per installation, have a system that delivers predictable results, and treat lead generation as a pipeline, not a lottery.
